If people would look at what kind of idiots those "service shops" hire, then I think a lot more people would do their own maintenance. Around here, its meth-heads, illeagals, and kings of stoopid working at those places.
Had a customer bring me a 466E internation not too long ago. He said one oil changer went to luch, another one was trying to start the truck and move it. "Wouldnt start he said". Thats because it didnt have any oil in it, "I said".
He saved $30 getting that kind of service vs. getting it done at my shop. LOL haha!

With both our vehicle's still under warranty I let the stealers deal with them. After that I pick and choose what I want to do in terms of self service.

I do most of my own stuff. Discount Tire rotates and balances for free and are awesome there so I don't mind having them do it.

Fluid changes and general repairs I do myself most of the time though.

I do most of my own. My buddy is a mechanic so he helps me out when I need help with anything. I usually just swap him rides for the day so he can rotate tires for me since it's much easier when you have a lift.

Two jack stands and a floor jack is all you need...

The part that makes it much easier is the impact

I enjoy doing my own maintenance - and - I know it's done right and with the correct parts.

Amen to that. I do as much as possible myself. However I have a reputable shop service my tranny.

Tire rotation is a bitch because I have those big ass Fwonkin' tires. Last time we (a buddy and I) rotated them because we had to replace a hub and ball joint(which was causing BAD wear on one tire)

I want to paint accent colors on the slots and insides of the rims to match the new center caps I ordered so I might rotate(depending on mileage) this time too.:dunno: Otherwise Tires plus has a shit ton of my $$ for 3 of them :( and will do it for free.:D
