On vacation. You'd think that after three years you could have waited one more week

BTW how was the road test?

hahaha, sorry bud, hope you enjoyed the vacation though

the road test was ok, it has a lot of power, three years of sitting hasn't treated the brakes well though and they will need some work very soon, also needs new shocks, more preload in the torsion bars and some stiffer leaf packs, it floats along like my grandma's 74 monte carlo

actually I took it out around the farm before I took it down the road and while driving through the fields it felt kind of sluggish, then I looked in the rear view mirror and realized I was throwing some rather large rooster tails

Three years will take it's toll. How are the tires?

Now that's funny

I think the tires will be ok, the steering felt wobbly the first time out on the road, but by the second time the air bubbles were worked out of the power steering and the rust was starting to wear off the brakes so it felt much better, next big thing I really need to do is put the other rear axle under it so I have discs all around and get new pads and rotors for the whole thing

Gave it a much needed bath today, it needs a good buffing to really bring the paint back but I'll worry about that another time, if the weather is nice tomorrow I have to mess around under the truck a little bit and figure out why my charging system doesn't work, right now im thinking I got a defective alternator but I'll look closer tomorrow

Pete just read all the thread it's awesome now im not much of a Ford man now is the 5.0 the same motor that came on Mustangs and didn't you put better heads and cam? Spray paint your hood for now with cans I bet it would look better keep up the good work and letting us know whats going on. I'm thinking when you put the bigger injectors and tuned it's going to fly or get after it much better.
Roland

I read somewhere that when ford started putting the 4.6 in mustangs there were a lot of left over 5.0s so they put them in explorers for a couple years, I don't know if that's true but I do know that the explorer engine I used is very similar to the mustang engine, I rebuilt the engine with all new internals and added a mild cam and ported aluminum heads among other things, and yeah it's got a lot of power now even without tuning, when I'm all done with it I think it will fly
