Why buy new when you can restore?
Wow, I wouldn't have expected a NADA value that high with those miles.
So have you talked price with the guy any more?

GMT400 or 800? I'd be more comfortable owning a vehicle that someone else did that I sorta knew. That way, I might be able to find out more history behind it.Wow, I wouldn't have expected a NADA value that high with those miles.

No not yet. But I am thinking about starting around $2000-2200... Still kinda thinking about it.
My neighbors truck that he used for his business is a 2000 with about the same miles but it is cc...
It was stolen and wrecked so I am kinda waiting to see if they total it. I might be able to buy it back. It's still drivable.
It was a nice truck too. It would take a new fender, grill, headlight assembly and hood to get it right.

Just wanted to check since the 3/4ton and 1ton were made through '00. I did some research on the debate between the 454 vs 6.5L, and most guys were saying they'd rather have the 454. From what they were commenting on, the 454 did better pulling, but the 6.5L got better mileage when empty. And yeah, I don't get why you'd put a 350 in a 3/4ton or for Pete's sake a 1ton....that's just asking for trouble (I think I read somewhere that they put 305's in 3/4tons in the early years of the GMT400). Wayne brought up the point most of them were talking about with the injector pump.GMT400 or 800? I'd be more comfortable owning a vehicle that someone else did that I sorta knew. It's a GMT800 for sure. I am not a fan of the 400's being that most of them run the same 350 as the 1/2 tons. I looked at a few with the 454 and I think I would go after the ones with the 6.5 TD.
6.5 TD had some injector pump issues which could be quite costly to repair. GM extended the warranty and replaced a lot of them, but if it hasn't been done, steer clear. They were also prone to some electronic glitches which would trigger a "limp mode". Overall, though, they were a decent, long-running motor.

well look at it this way. if something does go bad and you are able to get it for $2500. you can part it out for more then you'll have in it![]()
