Looks like this could be a good buy.

So you want to use it on your property and for hunting. Not work?

Basically a farm truck?

Will it see many highway miles?

What about the black truck?

I want a truck that can be universal: farm truck, highway, and can tow my trailers and not be overloaded.

Seems like an OK truck, but I wouldn't tow anything super big/heavy or go long distances (but you've got the Duramax for all that anyways).

Do you even use Black Chevy for anything?

I'd go for it if they'd do $2500. For that price, you would still have a street legal truck that you would only HAVE to do something to the axle. Then you could just leave the bed alone since you plan on using it as a farm truck anyways. So for $2750 or so, you'd have a decent truck.

I have recently had to let Black Chevy go since I never even drove it... It was wasting away.

Good point about having the Dmax to pull and this is how I justify my reasoning. I want a truck that I can take in the woods and trails without worrying about scratching it up for this year.
The main reason why I want a 3/4 ton is because in the next year or so if I am able to accumulate enough maintenance I will have to put together a group of guys with a driver into a truck like this to pull the landscape trailer.

IMO the new "Blue" truck is too nice of a truck for a Landscape truck. I can use it for that reason as can my brother. But over time when you have a group of guys using your truck everyday it gets trashed....

:crybaby: NNOOOOOO!!!!!! Not Black Chevy!!!!!!!!!!! :crybaby: I am sorry for your loss. :(

If you're gonna take this in the woods, I wouldn't even touch the body at all.

I also totally agree with employees driving company trucks. You should definitely keep the Blue truck for you and your brother. Guys just beat the crap out of company trucks.

Sound like this truck meets every requirement (other than only being 2wd). Seems to be a green light to me!

I almost bought it this afternoon. But I wanted to shoot my bow with a friend so that would have meant driving home grabbing truck and trailer and going back there and picking it up...

why would you want a 2wd truck for farm work and hunting/going in the woods?

And if thats the intended purpose is there really a point in making it look good?

Basically this truck is beat and its a time bomb with all those miles on it.

1. Why wouldn't I want it for farm work and hunting/going in the woods..

2. When something is in good condition it helps with resale value-or- looks more professional if it made it to the job site...

3. It's not beat and its not a ford... It has lot's of life to be had and is just being broke in. These trucks can go non stop if taken care of...

It just seems like a 4x4 would be better offroad. Ive had a few 2wd trucks and getting stuck sucks and Id never buy another 2wd.

I just wouldnt bother fixing up something with that kind of mileage because you wont get much more out of it.

It seems like that truck was beat on.

Ive heard of trucks going for several hundred thousand miles but its always a gamble. Id drive my truck to that many miles but I wouldnt buy one with that many miles.

The most Ive seen on a gas pickup was 433k on a Toyota T100 and for a diesel 700k+ on a '95(?) Ram.

I don't think it was beat on as I was lead to believe in the beginning... I have a front mounting receiver that I will hook my winch up too if in the event I get stuck...

This truck with these miles has a NADA value of $5000-6000 in good shape. I can get it looking good and the rear end fixed for less than $1000. My brother works at Hendrick Collision. He has a set of these bed sides lying around if I get the truck for $150 so might as well put them to use.

From what I am thinking there is nothing wrong with the ring and pinion gear. The problem is the G80 locker. common problem....

Worse case scenario I have a extra 4.10 ring and pinion for the rear end!
