I'd be concerned about the WVO during colder months. Usually with WVO it's run from a separate tank with a heater because otherwise it'll tend to gel up.

Just throw some diesel anti-gel stuff in it and you should be aight unless it gets hella cold.

I only run it in the summer. If it gets cool out like in the 40's I notice it is harder to start so I just keep it in the tank during the hot NC summer months.

Probably not. A lot of places now are using a cooking oil that's semi-solid at room temperature, and it doesn't really thin out until it's heated to about 120-140 degrees. That'll clog up your filter in no time, and no telling what effect a semi-paste will have on your pumps, but I doubt it'll be good.

Most year-round WVO setups use two tanks, one with regular diesel and a second tank with the WVO. The WVO tank has a heater in it (you can use copper tubing and just tap off the radiator) and sometimes also a heated filter. Then there's a valve to switch between the tanks, and to purge the fuel system of WVO before shutting down.

The so-called "trans fat" or hydrogenated vegetable fat. But it's OK to make biodiesel, just like animal lard.
