The only thing I actually like from Volkswagen, excluding their vintage air-cooled vehicles and the Vanagon, are the diesel engines. Great option for a Prius-free world...

I don't doubt a Jetta TDI can do some light towing easily. Have already seen some older ones with those non-turbo engines towing even single-axle camping trailers...

BTW once I've seen a small Fiat econobox towing an semi-rigid boat about 1 1/2 the size of this one, and fitted with a 40hp outboard motor. If that POS with a 1.5L gasser could tow something the 2.0L TDI has some nuts for sure...

I wish my gas jetta would get close to that I think I get around 28-30 at best. Time to trade it in for a tdi.

I mix waste veggy oil with the diesel. I have gone as high as a 50/50 mix with no issues. So I really only buy 7 gallons of diesel the wv oil is free.

That's awesome that much mpg when VW came out with the Dasher my older bro bought one I remember it made good mpg. Now when you mix veggy oil how do you do it can you explian and do you have to filter it or you pour it straight in?
Thanks! Roland :dunno: :tmc:

FWONk yeah, diesel Jetta FTW

The only good things from Volkswagen currently are their diesels (and the Kombi :D2).

I filter the waste veggy oil. The stuff I have been getting is not to bad and so I just use a paint filter like they use to filter spray paint before putting it into a spray gun. Some times I have used a pantyhose on the nasty stuff. It is amazing how much it can filter out. Then just pour it into the tank. I keep a spare diesel filter handy in case of any clogging that might occur.
