Add to that the fact that it reduces your ability to maintain control during evasive maneuvers, thereby having a detrimental effect on safety.... just an all around bad idea. Nothing good to be gained...

What purpose do your friends say taking off the sway bar serves?

I wish they made some quick release ones for my burb

Make your own!
You only have to disconnect two bolts, and maybe spin it out of the way :dunno:

Taking the sway bar off for on-street driving is a horrible idea. There is absolutely NO benefit to removing it.

For offroading, i disconnect my rear sway bar. Thus far i've left the front connected to prevent the CV's from over extending... i'm 50/50 on if its worthwhile to disconnect the front sway bar offroading with an IFS vehicle.

They disconnect them all the time on ZR2 S-series trucks for all the rock work. :dunno:

No issues so far...

Depends on your vehicle, I suppose, but your a-arms maximum travel shouldn't be pulling your axle out...

Ridiculous.

Removing the sway bay increases body roll like a bitch. It feels like you have a flat front tire. I can't imagine doing it to a street vehicle... unless you are some all drag racing hardhead. It would still drive like crap.
