They really aren't that complicated or hard to do. I'm not sure what he's complaining about?

He's bitching about the room he has to work. He wants to wait until he has a day that he can spend all his time on mine. He's afraid of breaking something, and then not being able to get it today. Makes sense to me. :dunno:

Yeah, that makes sense.. You don't want him breakin' stuff!

He's also out of gas for his torches. He said he went to heat the bolts up, and poof. He can't get those filled until Monday. :wtf?:

No offense Jeff but I'd look for somebody else. These aren't hard to do and I've never had any problem getting tools in or bolts out. I sure haven't ever had to heat anything with a torch.

This is sounding a bit odd.

I tried doing them myself. There is no room between the caliper bracket and the leaf spring to get a ratchet in there. I guess the bolts are froze up for the caliper. I told him that I got the other side off, and that's when I realized they were torx. Why would GM change everything that used to be fucking simple?

I did discover a tip on the top torx bolt. You don't need to loosen it at all. You just take out the bottom one, lift it up and it slides out with a little wiggling.

Torx bolts are nice... But the bits are PITA to find sometimes.

I get to find a 22mm socket now... Gotta take my steps off

Ordered a new grill and put an offer in on an overhead console, both for the S10. If I get this overhead console, all I have to do is find another one in the junkyard to swipe the wiring harness off of and then figure out how to wire the damn thing.

Enjoy

:D
Holy shit! That's gonna take some serious thinking and reading.

Thanks Dennis!!!

I won the overhead console. "Buy It Now" price was $34 and I made an offer for $30 so I got the entire thing for $42. I probably overpaid for it, but it has the Mode button, HomeLink, and the headliner surrounding it is gray (matches my interior). I'm very happy with it. I guess I'll be taking a trip to the junkyard next week to search for another OHC equipped Blazer/S10. :D :fingersx: I'm gonna see how much I can find and get out of a vehicle. The only problem is that the main harness is hard to get out (from what I've read) with the dash in the vehicle (I think). Unfortunately, the Blazer I got my dash out of didn't have the OHC.

It looks harder than it is

I used some network cable for it :D

IIRC, you connect one wire to the ALDL wire, one to the VSS, and if you're browsing the junkyards, you need the temperature sensor that goes behind the grille. :)

As long as the OHC you bought has some of its wiring harness, you're good to go

All the Homelink needs is power.

I haven't done it yet, but I need to take my steps off because I sold them...
Well Dennis, as soon as I get it, I'll have to make a thread. This is another thing I'd like to do before installing the dash again. I'm assuming that a small section of harness (hopefully 1ft; or 30mm in your case :D) will be included like a pigtail. Without it, I'm gonna have to find that too.

I knew about needing the Ambient Temp Sensor. I'm guessing the VSS is the Vehicle Speed Sensor, but what/where is the ALDL?

With these 3 connections, will everything work (avg MPG, trip, compass, etc (I don't know all the features))?

That's usually why I have a buddy help me too. Him and his dad have all the tools necessary. I don't have a compressor or torch. And yes, a torch makes a HUGE difference, especially in the salt capital.

Go to Sears.....if Canada has them. They have a Torx set from T10-T55 or 60 from Lisle Tool along with all the sockets you need. I think I've got 1 or 2 22mm now (between the standard sockets and impact sockets).

It always, always comes down to having the right tools. Unfortunately, when you don't have the right tools, it gets to be expensive either in tool cost or part cost.

Drove the truck to pick-up a food order for work from the warehouse (got to play with dry-ice too!) and then to work and home.

The ALDL is the orange (If I remember correctly) wire in your OBDII connector.
The VSS is the speed sensor, and I tapped into it right by the cluster plug... Should be the green wire, 3rd from the left on the row closest to you.

The compass is 4 wires, and plugs in and stays on top the OHC, you should have an arm sticking off to the side for it to sit on... That goes over the head liner.

And 1ft = 30CM not MM

I'll have to re-read this when I'm looking at the truck.

And shit, I can't even be a smartass and get it right.

Shampoo-ed the carpet in the Silverado for the second time. All done now. Hauled a lawn mower in the back. Drove it a little bit.
