Ok. Another question. Do you think its worth an eaxtra 40$ to get the compressor from Advance auto parts instead of Rockauto? Even with discounts its still 40$ more than Rockauto , but my wife brought up the point that if I were to have any issues with it during the one year warranty that I could just bring it back to the store instead of dealing with trying to ship it back to rockauto.

The chances of having a problem with it are pretty slim...
But I also like to buy local... just for that very reason.

Who rebuilt the one at Advance?
If it is by "FOUR SEASONS"... I would think twice about getting it...
On the Cadillac boards, they seem to have a lot of trouble with AC units rebuilt by FOUR SEASONS..:dunno:

Jim, the compressor I am getting is a brand new AC Delco one. Advance and Rockauto both sell it. But I will have to order it on the internet either way. Advance doesn't stock it, its a special order. But with a discount code I can get it for about 335 at advance, or 295 from Rockauto. It has a one year warranty at both places.

I am not buying a 4 seasons brand or any other aftermarket one. Nor will I buy any remanufactured ones. I will only buy a brand new AC Delco, or a Denso compressor.

I did end up getting everything from Rockauto. I know how you guys are picture whores, so here are some pictures of the goods. I got all AC-Delco parts. I knew Denso made the Delco compressors but I didn't know I would be getting an actual Denso compressor in a Delco box. :dunno: Either way, I am glad I bought this versus a cheap aftermarket or Reman unit.

I took my truck to the shop today and had all the refrigerant evacuated from the system. Now I can start replacing parts.

The guy at the shop is really cool. He explained to me that if the orifice tube is really dirty, then I should tape up the ends of all the AC hoses and bring the truck back to him so he can flush it. I asked him what exactly is "really dirty"? And he said "oh, you will know! Sometimes it looks like mud and shit packed in there. "

So what do you guys think? I don't see any dirt or crap, but I do see some metal flakes. :dunno:
