So far it seems that Rockauto has the best deal. I can get a brand new Delco Compressor for right at 300 shipped. Looks like I will go with that unless anyone can find a cheaper one? :dunno: I have seen cheaper, but they were some off brand or else they were remanufactured, and I want neither, I want a new one.

I still need to get this fixed. I have been putting it off due to lack of money because of medical bills and gas prices right now among other things. Its been bearable since I leave for work before sunrise and its still very cool. I just have a hot ass drive home.
Anyways, I got a few quotes on getting it repaired. The way my back has been acting lately I am wondering if I should just pay to get it fixed instead of doing it myself. If I get the parts, (everything except the refrigerant) a shop will do it for about 450 for labor and refrigerant recharge. Does that seem like a fair price? :dunno:

Considering the labor involved, the heat and your back condition...
That's not bad at all...as long as they will guarantee it.

That's just the thing, he said no warranty at all if I supply the parts. But if I buy the parts from him (at twice what Rockauto wants) he said I get a one year warranty on parts and 90 day warranty on labor. But I get a one year warranty on the compressor no matter where I get it from :dunno: But I am not gonna pay twice as much just to get a 90 day labor warranty, screw that.
Only one other shop will do it if I supply the parts, but he said no warranty as well, and he wants more $$ than the first shop.

Scotty, if you were not having back issues then it would be a do it yourself job minus the evac of the system and recharge. But with back issues and bending over into the engine compartment. You have to consider your health. I would get it done by the shop. As for warranty. It is a crap shoot. If were me, I would just get the parts and take it to them. Chances are you will not have any issues.

Kind of looks like you're going to have to roll the dice on this one, or you can keep roasting your nuts. :dunno:
