You betcha
ecoboost has a steep premium price compared to a 5.0 half ton. The extra money for a diesel or ecoboost offsets any mileage savings. I drove a 5.0 and an ecoboost and the 5.0 stacks up pretty nice and can be had for the better price.
btw - what would you be towing?

The new diesels are not that good and you are not going to get much better mileage than the big gasser. I would not buy a post 06 Diesel IMO. I work on them and they are not nearly as reliable and the cost to run them is way way more than anything you might save on gas.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I love diesels, but I really don't see why you'd get one. :dunno:

For me, you should need one. Otherwise it is just a lot of $$$ for nothing.

Easy answer for me. I hate diesels.
So do I, but the truck is for the wife

the eco-boost is $750 more as an option, and as current fuel prices that is only 18000 miles to offset the cost. My wife will do that in 7 months...

Also, these trucks are pretty similar, and you'll notice, both are discounted 7k... so if i found two identical trucks, i'd assume identical prices

Weird, searching through the diesel forums I am, no one is having issues with the 6.7's. the 6.4 which i had was a good motor and once the DPF was gone the mileage was good. I wouldn't buy a post 03 diesel from ford until the 11's though. that 6.0 can suck my weenis. I wouldnt be buying the diesel to save fuel anyways.

I don't need anything I own. I daily drive a 425rwhp lightning that gets 13mpg. Do i need it? Hell no.

Since you're not towing, get the EcoBoost.
On second thought, a 5.0 might be better since it doesn't need premium.

Nice trucks you had BTW!

The 6.7's have not been out that long. I have faith they will be good but they are not high mileage engines anymore. In reference to the 6.4L They are strong runners. If you can take all the dpf off legally go for it. A lot of states wont pass inspection without it.
