What's the Gross vehicle weight on the 98 6500 - 26,000lbs I assume?

Yes. It does not require a class A until you add a trailer that is weighted for more than 10k.

They take weighted tags pretty seriously here and the guy had it weighted at 16k pounds which just may cover the weight of the truck.

Hauled mostly asphalt for highway construction.
I drove one and Darling Wife drove the other one...
Did it for about 8 years...

I like the 5speeds with two speed rear end setup.

When I was delivering beer we had a few of those with the gassers, not bad trucks but they certainly were dogs. Should suit you pretty well and the price is right for what you got
