AC Delco batteries

I put a pair of Kirkland's (Costco brand made by Johnson Controls - same folks who make the Die Hard for Sears) in my truck last year and they're doing great. Left all the radios and a portable heater on in the truck overnight at 18* and it started right up the next morning.

Got one in the wife's truck too that's 5 years old now and never had a problem with it. Could leave the lights on overnight and still crank it the next morning.

I have heard that the Optimas have developed issues lately, and that saddens me.

I'll never buy another AC Delco.....but that red top in the suburban has performed flawlessly.

We'll see. I dont drive the '01 much anymore, and after 4 days of not running it almost wont start. The 86 has a Die hard truck/suv battery that always did well but even it has had problems lately. I had to jump it today.

My 5 year old AC Delco in my 06 can sit for weeks and start right up first time. I expect it to go at any time but when it does I'll replace it with the exact same battery.

Here is some interesting info on optima batteries and others. This is a thread I started on another forum about batteries.

I must also say it did not end up being the battery after investigation it was a starter issue. Regardless it gave me some good info about battery care and charging.

My AC Delco battery lasted 5 years. I replaced it with a Kirkland though because it was more product for less money.

Well yeah the delco in this 01 is about 4 yes old but you could never really use accessories without the truck running and it's always just seemed weak. The rest of the lot was the same.

Optima is hit or miss... When they DO work, they work good... But the quality control fell through the floor when they started mass producing...

We have one still kicking ass since 1998, but I hear nothing but bad things from everyone who has bought one in the past few years.

The Duralast batteries kick ass. I just bought a gold top a couple of months ago. My AC/Delco crapped out on me. I had a red top Duralast in my '99, and it was going on 7 years. I've never had any luck with Delco batteries.

I have not heard of these issues before.
