I thought the whole point of GM keeping the GMC nameplate was to make it their luxury trucks while Chevy would stay the "meat and potatoes" brand. Seems like they just continually kick themselves in the rear, no matter how many chances they get. :loser:
This has always really just been media speculation. GM rarely announces such moves and when they do they leave a LOT of wiggle room. They are going for what makes money.

The GMC and Chevy brand trucks are outselling everything else they make by far. I think they are smarter than we give them credit for. High content vehicles are high profit vehicles.

But badge engineering can only get you so far. They need to be spending their money on NEW product development, not warmed over seconds IMHO.
Not really badge engineering. If they introduce a new high end vehicle, it makes sense. Just like the King Ranch, or Platinum, or Laramie, etc. Those are all designed to make extra money... and they do!

Nice thing is it doesn't take much money to add content to a vehicle that has been produced since 2007.

Then get rid of Buick, too... The Lucerne is a knock-off of the DTS, the Regal is an import from overseas.. could easily be a Chevy product.. the Enclave is a badge-engineered Traverse / Acadia.. the Lacrosse is another overseas import that could easily be a Chevy.. :dunno:

At least these days when most manufacturers do their badge engineering, they usually change up the sheet metal and some of the content. Back when an Escalade looked almost exactly like a Suburban with a badly-done front fascia replacement... That was bad badge engineering, IMO...

Give the Escalade a little credit, it was a Taholade, not a Suburbalade.

Did they offer color options back then? I never remember seeing that body style taholade in anything other than white.

Yeah, there was white, gold, maroon, and maybe a couple others. White seemed to be the most common by far.
