Oh snap.

Out of curiosity, Rich blew on some black textured powder on the spare aluminum plate he had in the shop and backplated it with the bare aluminum plate that he quickly polished quickly on the buffing wheel.

And since the skull not being attached posed an issue (a support piece had to be welded on the back to support the skull), I had an idea how to attach it and still keep the fangs. See what ya'll think of this design. Oh, and I reduced the number of sections on the wings, allowing me to make the entire image bigegr on the plate.

I think that looks just a nice and solves your problem without sacrificing the integrity of the design.

Now that I see it, there were too many wing sections before anyway!

Think he'd be willing to do another if do the design work? I could replace the part on my bullbar that says "WESTIN" with something like that, but maybe like a wolf's head to go with my theme.

Cool. Cause the 1/4" support piece we welded onto the back of the 3/16" steel actually ended up having the weld areas show through after we powdercoated it. Plus adding a backplate with a support piece is a pain in the arse.

So, I will have studs lightly welded to the back of the blank extra steel plate that match up to holes in the back plate, have the front plate waterjet with the newest logo(fangs attached), have a piece of aluminum cut slightly larger than the logo (so we don't see the edges of it when it's bolted to the back of the front one, have the backplate chromed or polished to a mirror finish, THEN pcoated in the chrome to tone it down a lot and make it look more like polished aluminum plate than chrome, or just clearcoat powder over the polished aluminum. May have to try some test pieces t get the right effect.

I have a collection of reject skidplates now. :loser:

The problem is, your plate is curved isn't it? I can send you the waterjet contact info if you want it.

Yeah, it is curved. They could cut it flat then roll it. Might be hard/impossible depending on the design though.
