Ford dropped the ball on that one.... wouldn't you think a 2wd truck is going to get stuck more than a 4wd therefore needing tow hooks more than a 4wd.

DO NOT GO EASY
You can weld cast steel to steel. You just need to do a lot of prep work. Steel would be better but I have a pair of cast steel tow hooks you can have. They are meant to be bolted in though. I see you are in SoCal. I'm in San Diego if that's close enough for you to swing by. I also have some shackles you could have if you want that you mae be able to bolt in. Let me know.
