Not a bad work truck at all. Like others, wheels and maybe a better rear bumper setup to get in and out of easier? :dunno:

I love work trucks. how about some chrome factory silverado center caps, (they are all over ebay) paint the wheels black, or silver and some trim rings?
You could intergrate the tape a little better. (maybe use all white?) and place it closer to the edges of the body, and curve, or round the edges of the tape. put the "fire extinguisher inside" sticker inside the body line, or on the utility body?

I have a brand new set silver of 2000-up center caps for sale. :D

I don't think Harvey would appreciate getting Chevy center caps, since he's a GMC :D

(I know, I know... same assembly line and all that, but he's a little stuck up)

The tape, I agree, needs to be removed and done over, but it'll still need to be red & white for visibility in snow.

Bernie have you ever gotten into any bad weather and if so how does she handle with that tall box?

I use this truck for storm spotting, so yes, it has been out in some pretty nasty stuff. It handles it just fine when parked, rocks a bit with winds over 60mph from the side, but it never feels like it's going over, and I was hit with a downburst the other day that maxed out my wind speed indicator, which goes up to 65 MPH. Probably a 75-85mph burst.

Now, moving, that's a whole different ballgame. Any heavy winds from the sides tend to make him wander a bit in the lane, and strong winds from the front can really slow him down.

An all flat black paint job and chrome/stainless wheel covers and that thing would screem government agency. :jester:

You can buy GMC emblem stickers that size on Ebay for 12.50!

Nice work truck Bernie:cheers:

Oddly, the rear bumper works very well as a step getting in and out, and it's strong as hell. It's1/4" diamond plate, and I've seen the entire back of the truck lifted off the ground by it when it had to be towed once.

I should try and get it straightened out a bit though. The driver's side corner hangs down a little, and there's a good sized dent in it on the passenger side, but I'd probably have to cut it with a torch and weld in new sections to fix that. Not worth it IMHO because, when all is said and done, it's a true work truck, so those things just add a little character.

Oddly, my previous truck was like that. All flat dark gray with a roof platform, roof mounted a/c unit, all sorts of side panels and cable connections, and a 50' tall air powered radio mast in the middle with a radar antenna.

It used to be the weather van for one of the Baltimore TV stations before I bought it. :D2

I wouldn't paint Harvey a dark color like that though. It gets hot enough inside that box on the back now. I'd hate to think what it'd be like if it were painted flat black. Could probably bake pizzas in it. :D

Needs bigger mirrors

I kinda like the ones it has. I swapped out the original West Coast mirrors for this heated/lighted pair, with the convex spots built-in. But, I could use a second spot mirror on the passenger side, to keep an eye on the idiots who like to hang in that lane even with the box so I can hardly see them.
