im really looking forward to how this turns out. i need to do some sort of hood vent for my XJ, the 4-liter is notoriously hot. almost makes me wish i had an XJ with an Iron Duke in it instead

So, after all that work attempting to create a mold and work from there, I found out that after removing the base piece it turned out to be too flimsy and difficult too straighten to work with. But as Mr. Edison stated at one point in time: "I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work."

After sanding the first piece I installed on the hood I found out it would be much easier to work on the hood itself rather than to create a piece out of nothing then adapt it to the hood.

So here is where I stand, I Bonded all around the hood after dropping the cut out piece.

Then I cut out the area to make a functional hood

Then I taped the area I don't want To cover and Bondo the edges of the wire mesh and pasted a layer of fiber cloth to ensure no cracking between the Bondo and the hood's metal.

While I wait for it to dry, I'd like to share some of Mr. Edison's quotes:

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.

Cool Leo.

Remember... There are plenty of hoods in the junkyard you can experiment with. So if this one doen't turn out how you like it, try again.
