Well, the great state of Georgia requires motorcycle riders to wear a damn helmet. That is the only thing I miss about living in Florida. I still had my right to chose for myself. Oh well, this is where we live for the moment so if I want to ride I have to comply. I am getting my bike back on the road and I need some help locating a helmet I can half way tolerate. I know more about motocross style helmets than anything. So I am starting from scratch with street bike stuff. I would like an open face helmet that does not look totally retarded. I saw one on a Hot Rod TV show a while back that I liked but I cannot remember what it was called. Are there any out there that can be open and closed faced? I am thinking for the winter time I would like a closed face that can be removed when it warms up. Shoot me some links and shower me with your knowledge. I need this figured out quick, fast, and in a hurry.

I recommend two helmets. A half helmet for the Summer and a full face for Winter. Those convertible models are pretty crappy at both.

Mine is a black half helmet (you can barely make it out hanging upside down here).

I personally wear only Arai Full Face helmets. After teaching for the MSF, I have seen lots of pictures where people have had their faces seriously damaged beyond repair because someone pulled out in front of them. My Arai is very comfortable and is well vented as are most of the more modern helmets. I have never had a problem overheating or sweating in it.

When you do choose a helmet, remember, the cost of the helmet is directly proportional to the value of your head. Choose well my friend.

Nobody doubts the value of actually wearing the best helmet you can for protection... IF you should crash, however it does take away BIG TIME from the enjoyment of riding.

That it does. That is one reason I do not want to waer one. If that helmet in the picture is what I think it is. It might be the one I saw on that show I like.
