I think you're right, seems like the timing tab was in a different place as opposed to the chevy engines.
I worked on one of those 345's once. It was left at a house my dad bought from the sellers who were moving out of state. They could not find a buyer for this truck. It was a 69 Loadstar 1600 with a 22ft stake bed on it, and it also had a 74 Olds Wagon on the flatbed. Since they could not sell the car for $300 that ran, and the truck for $1000 that ran, in time for them to leave state, they were gonna drive them to a scrap yard. My dad, said, no just leave them, here is $300 you'd get for scrap. All I did was a tune on the 345 installed a windshield and sold the truck for $1000 to some illegals in So Cal. We got a postcard in the mail in the sellers name of the house about 2 months later saying it had been impounded for illegal use if we wanted it had to claim it. Never went and picked it up. Obviolusly the illegals never changed the name, and they had a good signed title. The Olds got sold for $500. This was back in 1986 or 87. That was a very cool truck though. Had it not been so big and took up so much of the driveway, we would have kept it. How that family got that Olds Wagon on the truck, I'll never know, but you should have seen us getting it off. Luckily the truck also had a biggo lift gate, and it was alot of help. But lots of blocks and several jacks. We got it off without any damage. Looking back now, I wish I had kept both of them. But you know how that goes, if we have always kept what we wished we had, we'd have so much junk we wouldn't have places for it.
are already been there but thanks
either one of the 345 or the 392 weigh in around 725#, give or take 10#. When I was building my 392 on a 1000# stand, it started to sag...so I opted for the 2000# stand. Some of the IH guys opt for chevy or dodge power because of the lighter weight versus hp/torque.
