Didn't get to do much work in the shop .. Power been off all day ..
Was going to start in on moving the radiator's bung on the lower tank ..
Without power for the shop vac to catch the cuttings from the cut decided to pack it in and head home ..

Do hope the power will be on tomorrow ??
Power company got their hands full with the damage done to the grid by "Milton" !!
Will see what tomorrow has in store ...

That was a rough one !!

My area dodged the bullet with it making landfall about 100 miles south ..
Still had big time wind & rain, lot of trees and power lines are down ..
But for the most part we were lucky ..
Glad you got through it. My youngest sister lives in Clearwater outside of Tampa. She was able to let me know that she was OK, but had no idea about her house.

That's very good news, Clearwater got slammed ...
So far 16 people has lost their lives ... Most deaths was due to Tornadoes spawned by "Milton" ..

At the moment there are two more, in the making, that are in route to hit Florida ... Another from the Gulf and the other is in the Atlantic ... These may or may not become Hurricanes ??

Water pump double belt pulley came in today, looks like the belt tracking may be okay .. Power steering pulley is in route ..

Working on the radiator is going well ..
Saw the bung off, making up a patch to weld in place ...

Got a nice fit on the weld in patch, waiting for the 1-5/8" aluminum bung ..
Both will be welded at the same time using 5356 rod ..

Eye balling the alternator belt showed it wasn't in line with the water pump pulley ..
Been taking a cut on the spacer and the alternator pulley, creeping up on it ..

Much better ..

Most likely if I was using the stock alternator, pulley and fan the belt would track okay ..
But those three item are aftermarket ..

I always try to use OEM parts. I understand with this build that it wasn't feasible for you to do so. Like I've said before, it appears that you have the skills to make it all work out.

Thanks, the effort is there ...

Which is going to be put to the test with the A/C compressor belt .. !
What I think I'm seeing is the belt rubbing on the aftermarket aluminum water pump ?
Will have a better look after the power steering pump pulley is installed and the belt is under tension ..

The cure for this would entail sawing on the pump or put the cast iron Oem pump back on ..
Really don't want to modify the pump ... Be a job to gain the room, photos of the problem area shortly ..

Probably there's no problem with the compressor belt, not having the power steering pump pulley on the motor is causing my eyeballing to be off .. !
Pulley will be on tomorrow and then ...

Do think the belts will have enough room to work without rubbing on the pump ..
It's close, but will be fine as Brandy Wine !!

Found a leak .. Power steering pump was dripping a drop every half hour ..
Being the pump is 50 years old, time was for a rebuild kit ..

463300004_10230851333285476_1561902162755346745_n.jpg

Got lucky with having all the hard parts still serviceably ...

Pump pulley came in, jumped to with installing it on the motor ..

463443734_10230854311839938_1070587268332696254_n.jpg

Encountered a problem with belt tracking, the pump was sitting on the water pump crooked ...
Didn't have this problem with the cast iron water pump, figured there is something up with it ??

I decided not to try to fix it and use a different mounting system for the power steering pump ..

thumbnail (8).jpg

The mount bolts to the engine block, do think this will be the easiest cure and net good belt tracking ..
