Oh...also update on my truck: They called to say it was "fixed" but they don't know why it happened. I assume this means they just gave up and reset the computers. They said they had one other truck come in with the same issue. It hasn't come back since they "fixed it" but they asked if they could keep my truck for a day or two longer so that the GM regional rep could look at it and pull any data he wanted off it while he was in. This was a couple days ago, so I assume I'll get a call to pick up the truck today.
Gm rep got there today...known issue. Crystallization of the DEF in the injector limiting flow. They're replacing it. Rep said GM is working on a long term solution as they've seen this a bit.
Interesting. When SCR came into our world, this was a common issue. In the class 6-8 truck world, SCR is known as "2010 EPA", and I spent the first 2 years do warranty and policy claims on Detroit/Daimler Urea tanks, pumps, dosers, and lines. It was horrible.
By 2012, we had mostly resolved the issues, other than the wild card...the enf user and his DEF supply. Since then, I have only used what I think is quality, pre-packaged DEF. Up until yesterday, I used bulk for the first time, because I was in a hurry.
Anyhow, old, contaminated, bulk, etc DEF was causing a lot of crytalization and contamination issues for us.
hmm...maybe the dealership should look at their DEF supplier, as they're the only ones to have put any in my truck prior to this.
