So over the weekend I pulled the motor in the malibu and yesterday picked up an engine with 87k which I thought was pretty good since the car has 121k on it. Got everything switched over from the old engine to the new, lastly, I installed the exhaust manifold and on the very last bolt I discovered that someone broke off a stud. At this point I shouldn't have to spend time dickering with someone else's mistake over a $800 engine. I do believe that someone has tried to drill it out before and off center so I'm not having any luck getting this thing out or drilled out for that matter.
I'm on the fence here, I want to say, efff this and just throw it all together and put it in the car. This may or may not pan out very well.
The other side of the fence has me taking off all my parts and taking it back to the salvage yard and have them fix it or take it back and I'll be on another long search for yet another engine.
I could have this engine in the car right now and if I knew that I could put it on there leaving out the one bolt and there wont be an issue than I'd do just that. I am just trying to avoid putting the engine in and having to take it back out, again...
Here's a photo of the engine. (bottom right screw hole is messed up)
What would you do?
