When the hell did you get a Malibu and how did you kill it? :dunno:

I bought it DOA from a friend that forgot to check the oil one road trip. I went up to Ohio to crab it about 2 months ago... It's clean and I got it for free too @daddy , plus 600 and fuel, and an engine.

Here's a photo of it when I picked it up. I guess I didn't post it on here...

Do like Big Red said. Clean the surface and keep it level, use a good gasket, high heat sealer, and tighten (when you torque it) starting from that end. Those manifolds are sturdy enough that you probably won't ever have a leak.

It's a chance, but I'd bet it works. I've seen worse.

That's what I'd do too. :dunno:

It'll probably be fine. Probably

I have never, ever had an exhaust manifold not leak that was missing a bolt. Granted, it's been all diesel, but still.

Having extracted more than I can count, if you are the first guy to get to them, welding on a nut and spinning them out has always been my best method

I understand what the "right" fix is... but I've seen a bunch of Toyota four bangers with broken off studs in their aluminum heads. Apparently it's a feature. Seen a bunch of them put back together anyway with a good degree of success. It is a little alarming that his is on the very end of the manifold.

It's a gamble.

After about 2 hours I got it drilled out to the right depth. Accidentally grabbed one of my cheap taps instead of the nice set and it broke... Stay tuned. I'm out picking up a helicoil set.

I just couldn't stand the idea that I could do all the other prep work, install the engine and keep my butt cheeks puckered hoping it won't leak, my luck, it would! I'm putting this engine in once!
