Cool old truck

Couple thing I noticed...it's been converted to a serpentine belt, gonna keep it?Has factory A/C,always a plus. The A/C cpmpressor doesn't match that year truck, prolly cuz of the serpentine belt :dunno:

Glad you got it back

Yeah I converted it to the serpentine belt system which meant a compressor change. I could never find anyone that could make adapter hoses for it so the conversion stalled. You got to take into consideration that I lived in a small town and all of this took place before the internet. It is so easy now days to find and order stuff now. I ordered the ignition key and switch in less than 5 minutes from my phone while sitting in the cab of the truck.

It would have taken hours on the phone trying to find one from somebody before...

AC is way down the road but I intend to remove all of the factory air stuff and eventually go with a Vintage Air setup. All the firewall stuff will be removed and blocked off for a clean firewall.

Saw a bitchin' '72(I think)a while ago and snapped a couple of pics. The guy had a Vintage Air system in his truck, very clean. They even added the vents to the stock locations where there were none.

Nice job Red! How do you want the thing to end up? Complete restoration or some updated stuff?

I did that to my 65 impala and the AC was not that great. It put out cold air but it didn't seem to be strong enough to keep the car cool. You might now have that problem since your cab is way smaller and would be more air tight. I say if AC is a major factor it would be best to keep the factory setup. Again it would have been in my impala.

I'm headed for Low & Slow, laying pinch weld. 22x9's up front, 24x15's out back. Engine, trans and rear will stay pretty much the same with just a little cleaning up.

Exterior: Smoothed rear end with roll pan. Front will get a roll pan and fender extenders from Grant Customs. Bed will be open until after the suspension and compressors, gas tank relocation and all. I want the bed open enough to see the suspension but haven't completely made up my mind yet. It's metal now but I'm leaning towards wood.

Keeping door handles, mirrors and keyed locks. Removing molding and going painted molding from an airbrush artist in Houston.
