Not a ton of progress but I did a little tear down, still trying to figure out what all I'm going to need. Front end sheet metal for sure, rockers cab corners and a kick panels need replacing. Overall the cab is in better shape than I expected.
Removed all of the AC and heater stuff, planning to block it off at the firewall. Originally the plan was to Z the frame but now that I'm looking at it that may be more trouble than it's worth. I have less than an inch of clearance at the transmission to trans tunnel, raising the engine and trans would mean having to slice the floor.
With my cab in the shape it is, I would rather not hack it up. In order to lay frame my long tube headers would have to go..
On to some pics.
When I gave the truck to my buddy it had electric fans, at some point he put a flex fan on. I realized that it was pushing instead of pulling. So I have a reverse rotation Flexalite fan on order.
Going to have to fabricate a shroud too.
Cab rust is what you would expect from this body style.
Passenger kick panel, rusted out at the base.
Rocker panels and cab corners.
