No, there's no excuse for whining and here's why.

1. Your problems seem pretty miniscule compared to "real" nightmare problems others have had with Ford, Dodge and even Chevy. I would hope that at least part of your problems were under warranty, :dunno:

I have a buddy that owns a concrete business, he had the same truck as you year, model and engine but his was white. His had 320k miles before he handed it to his son. It was never in the shop once except for routine maintenance. It had a lot of highway miles. He replaced it with a 2010 model that had 240k before he handed it down to the fleet. It was never in the shop either. He now has a 2014 but onto the next point.

2. Luck of the draw. Every auto maker has problems with a percentage of their vehicles. I've been around a lot of fleets and it seems on average that Ford and Dodge have a higher percentage of lemons. This percentage might change now with a new model Chevy getting to replace older trucks in the fleets around here.

3. You're a grown man, if you don't like what you have replace it with what you want! Whining gets annoying when you see it in every thread or at least 5-6 posts. If I don't like something, replace it with what will fulfill your needs.

That being said, I think your next truck will treat you well. Whether it be a Ford, Dodge or Chevy.

In reality, if you think GM is crap... I'd hate to see what you would call a Ford or Dodge if they were problematic for you.

You don't like my whining? Guess what, I don't give a crap.

You are entitled to your opinions and I am entitled to mine. You are free to disagree all you want, again, I don't care.

So, stop whining about me whining.

My wife's '14 Sierra has already had 3 recalls and has now been in 3 times for the airbag light coming on. They keep saying it is a connector under the seat, but they can't seem to get it fixed for more than a week at a time. The doors rattle worse than a GMT400 on washboard roads, the interior squeaks and rattles all over, and it rides worse than my Ram by a long shot...even though the Ram is 4wd with the heavier LT 8 ply tires on it. My Ram's doors don't rattle, the interior doesn't squeak, and I haven't had any warranty work yet (although it is going in tomorrow because the HVAC defaults to Recirculate every time the truck is shut off and restarted).

Honestly, we are going to give them one more shot at the airbag light, and if they can't get it fixed (seeing how that is a pretty major safety system) we will probably try to lemon law the Sierra. I don't know exactly how that works, but I guess we might find out. :dunno:
You should be eligible for a buy back but I do believe those buy backs only benefit you towards a new GM.

Sorry.

I realize that. GM has some decent vehicles...from what I have seen their newer trucks are not one of them. I am not really brand loyal in the least, I tend to look for the best vehicle that fits my needs/wants at the best price and go from there. I have had many makes in the past, but have had much better luck with Dodge/Ram lately. I almost bought a Ford instead of this last Ram...it came down to price and the deal the dealerships were willing to make.

Some people are loyal to whatever brand no matter what...I am not one of those. :dunno:

I hear ya!

If I was able to get Ford or Dodge employee pricing it would come down to price for me as well. At the moment I get GM employee pricing. I pay what I think a new vehicle is worth, not what they think it is worth.

It's all a matter of shoulda, coulda, woulda.

I've replaced a transmission for a friend who had a Dodge who saved 2-3 over a new Chevy. At the time they wished they had bought a Chevy but I told them, I wish I could tell you, "you wouldn't have to worry about that if you had bought a Chevy". You just never know.

My old 99 z71 made it 220k miles on the original tranny. I hate myself for not keeping it. It would be still kick in it!

My 96 aka Earl has 375k miles on it and it has plenty of life left. It has the original transmission though I am just waiting for the rear end to start whining (I wonder if it'll sound like Jeff...) Boooo, that was wrong, Sorry Jeff!

One of my best buds has 267k on his 97 z71. I just installed his second transmission. I do however feel that if he had a transmission cooler with all the trailering he does it would have helped. We installed one this time!

Though my friend, well, her Dad's truck just got a new transmission with no tranny cooler at 349k miles. Its a 96 as well be SC LB 4x4. He added a cooler to it as well.

^^^ Well, there ya have it...I stand corrected. Based on those stories, we can now say for a fact that GM is far superior to Ford and Ram.

Oh wait, not so fast. My brother's co-worker's uncle's mom had a Ford that went 8 million miles on the original engine and trans. Heck, he only changed oil 3 times too. :jester:

I think we need to give RAM some credit. It might have taken them until 2014 but they finally figured out how to get 16 spark plugs to last more than 30k miles.

You're just mad about the rear end/whining slam...

I have yet to find out if Ford has a motor that doesn't throw a spark plug or two through the fender/hood.

It would be awesome if they found room in their powerful block for more than 3 rings for those spark plugs to thread into. :jester:

To be fair, I wasn't comparing... Just talking out my butthole....

Welcome to 2014 Brian. Ford fixed the spark plug issue about 10 years ago. And they do not even make those engines anymore.

Now, shall we talk about GM and their inability to make an engine that doesn't eat or burn oil right off the assembly line?

Shall we talk about AFM? (the current AFM system on the new engines is STILL having issues).

Sorry Brian, but GM fans shouldn't be throwing stones, because they are not even in a glass house, they are in a wet tissue house.
