Looks like GM is feeling the competition from Ford. They are moving up their redesign to 2018 with the T1XX platform

They are even working on a 10 speed transmission.

This confirms I will most likely be holding on to my truck for about 4 more years. That will give me a chance to pick the redesign or find a good deal on a K2.

I thought it was already planned to hit in 18 as 2019 model and I think I remember reading they were codeveloping the 10 speed with Ford. :dunno:

Not too shocking they'll have a fairly short life. They did a decent job on the K2XXs but at the end of the day it's still just a new cab on slightly updated 900 frame. Would have been perfect if they'd have been released in 11 or 12.

Really curious what the engine lineup will be. As new as the Gen V is I bet it doesn't change much, maybe Gen III to IV type stuff. Maybe the TT3.6 to compete with EB?

You're correct. The 10 sp is a collaboration with Ford.

As far as release date, I thought it was originally going to be a mid year release as a 2019.5 similar to the 07 models.

Hopefully it is a better "redesign" than the K2 models. GM really hasn't done much since the GMT400 transitioned to the 800. My wife's 14 feels old...it drives just like everything else they have put out since about 99. :dunno:

If these companies would do like they did way back when and keep a body style for more than 3-4 years, it would make redesigning them a whole lot easier. The Chevy trucks from '74 to '87 were pretty much the same style albeit with a few cosmetic changes. :dunno:
