No, the Light didn't Burn Out, sadly, it came back on while driving Home from Work. I checked the Code, P0449.
I found this at Rock Auto, but want to make SURE it is what I need.

AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 2N1138 $66.79
2000 Silverado, 4x4, 5.3L 8Cyl LS Body Style

This thread is GREAT, but the only Part Numbers I see when reading through are for 2006, 2005, etc. None reference a 2000.
It would be great if someone "in the know" could let me know if what I posted above is the right Part for me to finally get this issue resolved.
I found someone that will do Labor, but I have to supply the parts.
Any Help, greatly Appreciated!
Brian

Brian I would have to do some research on it because I am not sure if it will work or not. If you had exhaust work done the guys probably disconnected the battery while welding and that cleared the code. Then it came back when you drove out there.

Sent from my pocket.

2006 GMC Sierra EVAP Solenoid

I bought part #25932571 and it doesn't look anything like the EVAP solenoid on my truck. People are saying this part will match up to my truck. My EVAP solenoid has two hoses coming in, the part I ordered only has one. Can somebody help me out?

Sounds like maybe yours has been replaced with the upgraded model already and you ordered the old style with the breather integral to the solenoid.

Does the one in place now look like this?

Mine already had the updated part as well. Installed sometime before my purchase as a new truck. The new instructions say to mount the filter up over the tranny, mine was mounted to the fuel filler neck, which I believe was an earlier suggested location. The actual solenoid can be separated from the little canister with little difficulty and is identical. The only difference is the remote mounted filter and the ridiculous price increase.

If you didn't read all 17 pages of the thread (who can blame you :) ) my code was caused by a broken wire to the purge solenoid up front on the engine. It may not be as quick a fix as you think.

Did you replace it yourself Dartboy? If so, can you can tell me more about it? If not, what did you do and how much was it? THANK YOU!

I replaced both the vent and purge solenoids, still had the code. Eventually,I took it to a shop who had the right computer to command the solenoids off/on, they determined there was a broken wire and tracked it down. My guess is the truck had the issue before I bough it (as a leftover w/ a few hundred miles on it) and they probed a wire looking for the cause, eventually the wire corroded through the break in the insulation $200 to fix it, plus the parts I didn't really need.

I second what daddy says, grab a coffee and read through the whole thread. It's long but there's quite a lot of good information in here

Check engine light came on and took 05 silverado to dealership. They did the code check and the smoke test to determine the evap needed replacing. $390.00 to replace. When asked why it was so much, they said it needed to be rerouted because, where we live, the moisture and dirt are to be blamed for the evap solenoid fouling out. The part iteself is over 100.00 and the whole rerouting is time consuming. What am I missing here? Does it have to be rerouted? Is this because I overfilled it once, or is it in fact because of the placement and road conditions? Does this mean if I just replace it that it will happen again in another 40-80,000 miles?

Washbrat, read back through this thread and fix it yourself. You will be out about $100 at the most. The filter box just needs to be rerouted with the hose, up over the transmission. The dealerships want you to think that it's rocket science. It's not and anybody with a few common hand tools can do the job.
