Would the U.S. be ready for a FWD step-van?

Most of us aren't purchasers for UPS. So, that won't be an option for us to buy.......... :jester:

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
I know several FedEx drivers. They used to be mandated to use the Sprinter vans. One guy had to shell out $7k for a new transmission. :ohnoes:

But I've always wondered why they have to drive 1 ton chassis vehicles around. Maybe there's more weight in those things than I think, but it seems like it'd waste a lot of fuel. I could see these things catching on. :dunno:

Depends what FedEx company they work for. If they would deliver to residentials than they might get away with something like that. No way it would work when delivering to businesses.

Back here FedEx uses only the Sprinters, and as far as I know it's more focused on commercial deliveries than home deliveries.

I have noticed a lot of comapanies here are starting to use the smaller Ford Transit Connect. I know Thyssen Krupp, who services the elevators at my work has already switched over to them. I have also seen a few with Direct TV logos on them. They look like they are slightly smaller than a Chevy Astro Van.

U.S.-spec Transit Connect is made in Turkey. Ford was one of the proponents of the Chicken Tax but now they spend some money importing some passenger versions and turning them into cargo vans in the U.S. to avoid it...
