Windshield Cracks

Anybody ever had a crack repaired? -or- do you just usually file a claim with your insurance company and have a new one installed?

I have a tiny star-shaped crack that is really starting to annoy me.

In Massachusetts, glass is covered under your comprehensive insurance and they do not charge you with a deductable or rate increases when you make a claim.

That being said I'm personally on my third windshield in a year and a half.

If it's less than the size of a dime, you can get some sealer from your local auto parts store to prevent it from spreading.

I had a chip repaired on my policy once when I was with Progressive, only cost 50 beans

We have a friend that is a great windshield repair man in the area. We haven't had to have any cracks repairs though, as we had him do Diamond Fusion on all of them. Check into that stuff, well worth the money!

I've had a couple repaired this way. I practically live on the highway and rock chips are unavoidable. Most times the repair is almost 100% invisible even if you are looking for it. Be wary of the fly by night windshield repair guys...

If it is a crack do not push on it,it will run.Remember windshields are two layers of un-tempered glass with a layer of some kind of plastic film sandwiched in between...

Can you take a picture of it from inside and outside? Post them and I can tell you if it is repairable or not.
