Not really so. 911s are quite reliable cars. They require some maintenance but the mechanicals are very solid. People are just scared of them because they are a mystery to the average mechanic (or buyer)... and a bit on the expensive side to buy.

You have to jump in and learn the cars.

Thats not what i mean, have you seen the price of porsche parts? i know a couple guys with porsches and while the 911 and similar cars are reliable (but just maintenance can put you in the poor house) the others are turds!

Yeah. Some of them are to be avoided.

People are just scared of them because they are a mystery to the average mechanic (or buyer)...

But they're basically a beefed-up Beetle :jester:

I really like the old air-cooled 911, might buy one someday or eventually build a replica. I also like the current water-cooled ones, but the older air-cooled ones are still my favorites.
