How many of you live in an area that radar is still used a lot? It's almost gone the way of VCRs here. Laser detection is a waste of money. If it goes off, you are already busted. Seems to me like the "radar detector" folks are sellin a bit of the old snake oil. :dunno:

We have cops that run KA band, and State Troopers run K band :dunno:

I've been hit by laser 3 times in 5 years

Informative video, except for the guy acting like a model from The Price is Right at the beginning.

Artificial intelligence??? Is it manufactured by Cyberdyne Systems??? :paranoid:

They like that in Oklahoma. I saw a lot of signs about that there.

Most of the locals here still use radar. We're behind on times. Probably why we don't have to have front plates or inspections, either. :D

I am strongly considering one now. Laser is what I'm worried about, but around here I think the main uses are on big highways and interstates. Since the main points they use are front plates and headlights, I'm not too concerned. No front plate and my headlights are painted black on the inside. Having a dark vehicle is a plus, too. It may be worth it to pick up some veil coating for the headlights. From reading around it doesn't protect you completely, but it reduces the laser effectiveness enough to give you some reaction time after picking up the signal.

It always depends on how smart of a driver you are. No radar detector will save your ass if you go haulin' everywhere and don't understand how to use one properly. Instant-on can still bust your ass if you're the only car on the road. It's more for an extra safeguard. Plus I haven't bought any new toys for the truck lately.

I'd be the first one in line for a new one if radar was still used a lot here.
