to add the EPA stuff there was too much work to be done to the 7.3 so they started over with the 6.0 and ford changed some things from international that is part of the problems
They changed to the 6.0 due to EPA and emissions shit and the tuning isnt the key reason they were blowing gaskets. Failed egr coolers and bad oil cooler design along with people tuning them without knowing what warning signs to look for.
Retuned? Matt are you saying the 7.3 has been engineered and adapted to EGR for those MY emissions standards?

We have had one of our 6.0s removed and replaced TWICE in a (lower output) E-Series...and another one in an F-series with 11K on the clock. These are 100% stock veicles.
im not saying that there were bad engines in the lot but im willing to bet that they failed and were replaced with the root cause being the failed oil cooler and egr cooler

I mean aftermarket tuners. You could load a hell of a tune into a 7.3 PCM and it would just keep on chugging.
my 6.0 and daves 6.0 are both tuned and stock. mine was stock till i did the oil cooler cuz when my ac was done in june the coolant was replaced with the wrong coolant causing the system to fail and clog with the old design. otherwise it hasnt blown a head gasket and was stock till 173K

No...Ford IS the problem. Navistar didn't have NEAR the issues with the 6.0 as Ford did. Ford marketing got ahold of the engine's specs and said that the numbers HAD to be higher so the engine looked good on paper.
There is a reason why the Navistar version puts out 200-210 HP while the Ford churns out 325.
It was a high-strung diesel....it's similar to the egoboost engines. Very high strung. Just wait until they start failing.
