I have a 727 in my 72 D200 with a 318. I also have one in my 90ish Dodge with a 5.9 12V Cummins. One thing I noticed is my 72 gasser does not have an external cooler other than the one in the radiator. The one behind the Cummins has huge lines that runs to an external cooler. I get the one behind the Cummins gets hotter but I thought big lines like that hurts the fluid pressure. So, what other differences are there and how can the one behind the Cummins push that much fluid?
By the way, I know one will not bolt in where the other is. I am asking these questions because the 727 in my 72 gasser failed. Before I start buying parts to repair it I want to know what the one behind the Cummins has to enable it to handle that 5.9.

Hey Louis! Welcome back. I have not seen you in a while. Did you get the 12 valve running?

Hey man. It has been rough lately with school and work. No, that damn oil burner is til dead lined. I think the IP is bad. I will have to get a book on it becuase there is no way I can afford to buy a new one. I am going to try and rebiuld it myself.

You should try to find a local fuel injection place that can rebuild it. They usually require special tooling and a good shop will be able to test it to find out if it is bad. Something may be hung up in the governor. I know Cats do that often when they sit for a while.

And there lies the problem. There are no shops I can go to in this area. The few that are hear wants way more than I can afford just to look at it. So I decided to focus my m7 72 gasser instead for now. I am using some of my student loan money to get it running again. After that is reapired I will see what i can do with the Cummins.
