Hmm, The guy told me the pulley on the 145 was smaller, therefore I'd need a shorter belt, but I measured the pulley on the 145 and my 105 and they are the same.

So you are saying that the case is bigger, which would put the pulley higher than the stock 105A, and that is why it needs a longer belt? You dont think the tensioner would just pull in a bit more to let the current belt fit?

Or does the pulley sit a lot higher?

You can max out the tensioner and squeeze the belt on there. It will work, but you'll eventually kill the bearings in either the tensioner or the alternator.

Any suggestions of what belt to run? I guess I could asl the guy I got the alt from lol, it was another guy who told me the pulley was smaller

What application did the Delphi 145A alt come off of? The HD or something?

The 145 was an option on several of the older GMs. Also, better check before you try to install it that the plug connection for the field windings is the same. GM used several different styles over the years.

Replaced both front axles

That's no fun. At least I don't like to do it.

It took me three hours or so but I got it done Having air tools sure helped.The worst part was I knocked a couple of beers over while scooting around on my little stool(has wheels)

Damnit gramps! Wasting good beer like that! You better get yourself back out to that garage and fabricate a couple of beer holders for that little stool!
