What did you do to your truck today?

That fwonking clown "Murphy" must DIE!!! :fume:

On the wife's truck we've had a problem with the latch for the driver's seatback for the longest time. I really should have replaced the seats years ago but...

Anyway, the problem is that if you move the seatback at all, like to get something from the rear seat on the driver's side, the fwonker is almost impossible to get latched back into a comfortable position. It will only latch either full forward or fully reclined. (I once got stuck in northern Minnesota, -15 degrees with ice and blowing snow, when I forgot and tilted the seat forward to get a map from the back seat. Took 3 hours to fix the fwonker.)

So, today our guests from BC have a 5:40 flight to catch from National airport. They both won't fit in the front seat of my truck, so the plan was to drive my truck to the train station at 1:30, pick up the wife's truck and come back to the house to pick them up and take them to the airport. Except... When I picked up the wife's truck the fwonking seat had been moved and wouldn't latch back in place. No fwonking way I can drive it all the way to the airport and back like that (80 miles round trip) in rush hour traffic.

Tried fixing the seat when I got home but, of course, most of my tools are now at the train station with my truck. Fwonk!

Okay, plan "B"... Use my neighbors truck, which I have a spare key for and permission to use. His truck is dead, with distributor out and all the wiring disconnected. Fwonk!

Plan "C", call a buddy to take them to the airport... I called my buddy Larry (Larry Who? on TMC) and he says sure, no problem. But he couldn't get here until after 3:30 from his house (and he needed to get gas).

The guests finally got headed to the airport at about 3:40, but I don't know if they'll make their flight in time, not with rush hour traffic just starting.

Right now I'm trying to get the driver's seat out of the Dakota so I can try to fix it but, of course, that means taking out both seats and the center seat (it's a 40-20-40)... with just a few cheap tools we keep in that truck for emergencies. And, the wife gets off the train at 7:30, and is afraid to drive my truck. She's worried because it's so big, and the last time she drove anything that big (a U-Haul) she sideswiped a traffic sign and tore the side open.

Fwonk me...

That "Murphy" fella really needs killing... :gunguy:

Got the seat back together and in the proper position, then went and got my truck back from the train station. The wife found a guy on CL who's parting out a '02 Dakota and willing to let the seats go for $200. I'll have to go look at 'em first to see what kind of shape they're in, and if they'll fit her truck. His was an '02 Dakota R/T, hers is a '97 SLT extended cab.
