Sorry Dave, I edited my other post in the meantime to clarify why I made the comment I did on reliability.

It is either running rich or not totally combusting the fuel mix, but the dealership couldn't figure out what the issue was. Everything is "normal" according to the computer. It also has an issue with pinging on occasion, but they couldn't diagnose an issue with the knock sensor (which could also cause a run-rich condition). Maybe the problem is more with the dealerships around here than it is with the truck, I don't know.

Well I didn't go get it. Put it together, it fired right up then died a few minutes later. Diagnosis is failed IPR. but it is a brand new from the dealer unit. It is torn back down and honna put the old one in to see if it stays running.


Looking bleak on my plans to hit fall fuel fest with it. Might have to ride the Harley up there.

I am saving money......the "new" one will be paid for, so no more payments for me!

Yes. The payment on the new car is less than half of the truck, and my gas bill is cut in half as well. I could have put the amount of cash I am spending on the "new" truck against the loan on the '10 and would have still had close to double the car's payment, even if I refinanced. I can pay the "new" truck off and have no payment there, and only drive it when I need a truck instead of feeding it gas as a DD. Makes sense to me, even if it doesn't make sense to anybody else.

I also knew I would get another truck, but I really don't need a new $30k truck as a DD. I had a buddy that bought a Cummins and was selling his old truck, and he said he would let me have it for a steal, so I planned around that hoping to make it happen. Everything worked out the way I hoped, and it looks like it will be a done deal tomorrow.
