My 72 D200 came with Factory AC. However, that monster castiron V-twin compressor just robs power. I want to install a modern, smaller cylindrical compressor. Aside from basketry, what all would I have to change out to make that happen. Also, while I am at itI want to convert to a serpentine belt to run all of my accessories. Is there asimple budget friendly junk yard solution to this dilemma? If so, how trustworthyis said solution? I strongly prefer using OE parts in builds like this.

Power plant is a 2bbl 318 with a 727.

I seriously doubt anything is going to bolt right up. Going serpentine sounds like a major undertaking... maybe retrofitting a modern Sanden compressor with a V belt drive would be your best route.

You might, and I stress might, be able to use the pulleys, idler, tensioner, alternator, compressor, and power steering pump off any '97 and up Dodge with the 5.2l or 3.9l. The 5.2 is the same block as the 318, and the 3.9 is based on the 318 (it's a 318 with two cylinders removed), but that can get expensive fast.
