Trim removal help

Pulling the trim pieces off my truck using hairdryer and I run into this problem..

Can I reclear over that or what's my options?

Somebody has repainted that section and didn't remove the trim. It's pretty hard to make it go away without sanding and reclearing the panel.

Problem remains... How many other moldings are going to give the same result? You could be opening a real can of worms. Might be better to just replace the trim and be happy.

Your right! I just peeled off the longer strip and it has the same thing going on.. I'm repainting the truck in the future so I might as well live with it till then

Well look at it this way. If you polish that area, it's probably only something that you will ever notice... and it may just be on that one side.

Yea I'm guna buff and polish this thing till I bleed!

You can try to wet sand it and keep machine polishing it to try and blend it in. That's about really all you can do without reclearing it.

Working for a body shop u only have 3 choices with what to do.

1. Put the moldings back on and take them off when you are ready to repaint the panels.

2. Take them off and repaint from the body line down.

3. Take them off and repaint whole panels.

If you try and wets sand and polish you are only feather edging the new paint and will posably sand throw the original paint. Then you will have to have it repainted any way. We take the moldings off to paint anything we paint at work. The only time i can think that we left one on is when the guy was paying out of pocket and it was all below the molding. And the molding was from one door edge to the other.

Cheepes for now put them back on. Just my $.02

Im pricing my John Deere Blitz Black paint tomorrow at the store so its just a little inconvenience till then i guess ..
