Transmission woes...

A neighbor that we bought wifeys newest truck off of has a 1993 GMC that is having some transmission issues. It only wants to upshift if you lift off the throttle, yet will downshift fine. Any ideas what the cause could be?

Is it an electronic tranny?

It probably has the 700r4 in it. I'd check the shift solonoid and tv cable.

Yes it's eletronic its the first year the 4L60E came out I know since my 93 has the same one and when I bought it back in 93 that's what the sticker said plus I have replaced mine before.

My stock one last 140K I know if you get over that your luckey if you have it rebuilt replace the Sun Shell with The Beast that's one thing that's weak on them.

I believe the trans is the 4L60 but cant verify electronic or not. If its a 4L60E could the computer be causing the issue? 4L60 be a vacuum leak?

I'm not sure if that tranny had a governor on it or not. But the governor could be sticking or have broken springs.
