Afew days ago I asked one of the trans shops I deliver to and he said the pressure port would work, but,he also said when they do a temp gauge add on they put it in the pan...so who knows? I'm going to put mine in the pressure port when I get around to it.

BTW,what kind of gauge(mainly interested in the sensor end)& fittings did you use? A pic would be nice if possible.

Well the guage I got was autometer. I don't have and pics of the sensor end. I'll get some when I get off work.

I didn't have to use any fittings the sensor simply screws right into the port. I kept the plug thought incase I decide to move it later.

Well Nick I've done all kinds of research on the install location. Lots of different opinions. Port, cooler line leaving torque converter, cooler line leaving cooler, and of course the pan. Most people put it in the port, pan or the hot cooler line. If you wanted to be really anal about it you could install two sensors with one gauge and a switch to read both.

I'd like to know where the temp sensor the computer reads is located and install accordingly.

I would want to know the temp as it leaves the converter. Just like a EGT you want it preturbo to get a true reading of how hot you are running and not want to toast the turbo. If you can get a true reading right after the converter then you know how hard the transmission is working and get a better sense of not overheating it.
