Whats your states tire size law? I couldnt find anything for VA but here's West Virginia.

In WV there's a bumper height law for "modified" vehicles of 31". For stock trucks, the truck cannot have tires greater than 2 sizes bigger than what came on it from the factory, otherwise you have to get a Modified Vehicle inspection sticker. Also any modification to the suspension meets the requirement for Modified Vehicle, even a 2" suspension lift, which is why body lifts are popular here.

So they are saying body lifts are okay??

West virginia and Virginia only allows a 3in body lift. But no restrictions on suspension lifts except for the bumper height law which is 30in from the ground.

Nd Tire size law....

s

The maximum vehicle size in North Dakota is 102 inches wide, 14 feet tall, and 50 feet long for a single vehicle.

NDCC 39-12-01

Tires

Tire size in North Dakota is limited to 44 inches tall for vehicles 7,000 pounds and under. All tires must be in safe operating condition, without any bulges or exposed cords. There is no listed minimum tire tread depth and it is unclear if tire grooving is permitted. Front tires must measure at least 60% of the tread width of the rear tires.

I'm sure it's best to check further as laws have a tendency to change but, here is a useful guide you might consider:

http://www.liftlaws.com/

Also speaking with other lifted truck drivers (in Florida anyway) you can take your truck and have it re weighed then issued a new weight certification. Without one the listed bumper heights apply to the factory vehicle weights.

Around here guys have come up with different mods to go around the re weigh. Some cobbled together and some that look like factory options. Dropped bars welded to the existing bumper, dropped aux. headlights, bigger/taller custom bumpers etc.

I only know of 1 guy with a 20" suspension lift who was ticketed for height violation. He was pulled over twice in one week. First LEO said, " You were speeding and I know you HAVE to be violating the lift law" he coulding find the statute and let him off with just a warning on the speeding.

Second LEO popped him for like $260 (I think). I can't remember the wording on the ticket.

PLENTY of trucks driving around the Jax area with 12"-20" lifts(and some taller) too many to think they are all getting pulled over regularly. :dunno:

THANKFULLY I live in a city where LEOs don't "profile" lifted trucks.
