Ok so i figured i would say i got my tie rod ends changed today finally. Cleared up all that steering wheel play. Also made my truck drive like an 08 again. It was driving like an old wore out golf cart.
I replaced both outter tie rod ends. I knew one was getting bad on the drivers side .. But when i checked them they were both bad and the passenger side was almost apart.
You will need.
10mm wrench (to hold the shaft of the ball joint to tighten and untighten the ball joint nut without the shaft spinning)
21mm wrench (to take off factory ball joint locking nut)
23mm wrench (to install new ball joint locking nut)
Good pair of channel locks (to hold ball joint while losening the jamb nut on the tie rod)
23mm wrench (to loosen jamb nut) ( i used vise grips)
Be sure to keep track of where the old tie rods ends came off at . To get you buy intill you get a front end allignment.
You have to jack the truck up on the lower control arm . If not the spindel drops too face and you cannot get the tie rod end out of the spindel.
I end up buying Duralast tie rod ends. I wish i could have gotten Motocraft or Moog.. But thats all autozone had in stock. And i couldnt really wait any longer. They have a Lifetime warrenty though so i went ahead and got them. They were 53 dollars for both .
