This is a cool car, but I still would prefer the Z/28 nameplate. BTW it could be not so detuned comparing with the version of this engine used in the Corvette. 580hp would be good. Also lacks an automatic transmission option...

Yeah, they should have stuck with the Z/28 nameplate for it.

But sure, I'll go out and write a cheque for one right now. :jester: If I could I would!

The engine in the vette has a larger supercharger on it, and more forged internals. That's why it puts out more power.

It is somewhat upseting that it is not a z28 because zl1 makes it seem unattainable but maybe its just me :dunno:
:werd: The ZL-1 was the rarest of the rare and bad to the bone. I don't know why they just didn't stick with the z28.

Because Z28 slots below the SS. Naming it Z28 would have been stupid.
Yeah like ANY manufacturer actually keeps name continuity in mind when coughing up their latest offering...

I bet that was the driving force behind NOT naming it Z28.

Possibly.

Z28 was just an option package. ZL1 was a special build car that they made almost none of. As far as the general public goes, a Z28 car would be one hell of a lot more recognizable than a ZL1 to a MUCH wider section of the population.
