I disagree with the Avy and the Pantyline. :dunno:

The F150 should be lower and the GMT900 should *be* on the list.

There wasn't really anything revolutionary about the GMT900 either. :dunno:

Or even the 800s. I don't think a truck should be up there because of one thing...like the engine.

Avalanche...yes. It's just something unique, different, and GM has stuck with it and not let it rot on the vine. (although I have no idea how they can continue to justify it with the 4-dr 1500s running around)

Tundra...yes. A huge truck for Toyota and the industry as a whole. Plus, the powertrain is is almost 'GM' good.

Ridgeline...yes. Like it or not, it's a unibody truck with IRS that would be the perfect truck for 95% of people out there. I think people are just scared of the perceptions that may come along with saying "my truck is a Honda".

The rest...nothing special about them.

I guess I wasn't thinking "revolutionary" in my thinking. :(

But if you think about it, nothing GM, FOrd, or Dodge did in the truck sector was "revolutionary" because they've been doing it for 50 years.

The Ridgeline barely qualifies as a truck. My Grandma's Lincoln probably had more towing capacity than that thing does.

That Caddy that Jeff hit and put out of commission probably had the same... :jester:

I think the 5.3L Engine is kinda a big deal :dunno:  It will end up being our generations "350" as far as use and notability is concerned. It's not GMT900 Exclusive, though.

It's hard to argue that GM didn't hit a home run with the GMT900 trucks. If the 09 Dodge (and the F150 for God's sake) deserves to be on the list, the GMT900 does.

Well the 5.3 came out with the GMT800, so... :dunno:

And I don't know, while GMT900s are definitely a solid truck, I still think both the Ford and the Dodge did more things that haven't been done before on the new trucks.

Dodge has the rear coil springs, and the in-bed storage compartments (and I'm sure something else that I'm forgetting).

According to the article, Ford has the "Ford Works Solutions" (which I know nothing about, but they think it's significant), and they also did the whole "man step" thing, which isn't much, but what did GM do wth the GMT900? Pretty much nothing except a straight update of the GMT800. I still think it's the best truck out right now, but nothing about it is revolutionary or unique in any way. :dunno:

Well yeah, like I said, the 5.3 wasn't GMT900 exclusive, so I really shouldn't count that in my list.

And if gimmick's like an in bed storage solution and man-step are "revolutionary," they can keep it.

The more I think about it, the GMT900 is not "revolutionary." Just a good, solid, tough truck.

 But even that isn't something that only the GMT900s have. I think Dodge has a similar system.
Yeah Dodge has had it for years, They actually had it before GM. My Magnum has it and I can't tell when it is reduced or full cylinders. Mash the gas and it goes but I haven't driven a truck with it personally. Two of my brother in laws have it and I have never heard them complain like the GM crowd does.:dunno:

I do believe my friends '72(?) Chevy C10 Longbox has rear coil springs........

It's always the ones that do the best job without all of the cheer leading fanfare that get overlooked. No gimmicks, no overstated capability numbers...just an honest truck.

I never told my story of the AFM lifters, but to a few. I just didn't want to hear all the BS.

I regularly sample my oil when I change it, just something I always do. Every sample had high copper and elevated iron in it. I kept informing my dealer, and they said there was not an issue.

About a year ago, the lifters started rattling loudly on start-up. I took it in, and they did the lifter replacement. My oil samples were HORRIBLE after that, and I began changing more frequently. The iron and copper began to decrease...for a while.

Then, about 3 months ago, I started to get a slight lifter rattle on start-up. And I sampled my oil, sure enough, high copper and iron.

That 5.3 ran like a top. I was very pleased with it. I loved that truck, but this was always a bit disturbing. It never burned oil, or had any negative performance.

I have searched the internet, and there are guys with tons of miles on these things, now, even with AFM. In fact, I have a customer with a fleet truck, 5.3 AFM, with over 100K and he has never had an issue.

 Just enough time for an epic thread, Tobias. We need new animals, and a canoe, though.
