Ok smarty pants...answer this:

Because I don't like the eventual look of chrome exhaust tips (rusty, dirty, hanging all different ways), is it possible to get a nice deep growl (not loud and snappy...and any RPM) while still using the stock factory tail pipe?

What say you?

Yes, but it won't be as deep as a good aftermarket/custom setup. Just swap in a Dynomax Bullet, Magnaflow, or Borla. They all sound great with stock tail pipes.

Well...that's certainly good to know.

At work, we have an undercover Dodge Durango R/T 5.9 that was forfeited by some drunk moron. I usually don't get to drive it, but my normal vehicle was getting serviced.

For me, it has the perfect exhaust. Quiet when cruising, very throaty at mid-full throttle, not snappy at all at high RPMs (I have a deep disdain for snappy exhaust) and a nice but reserved rumble at idle.

Just like this only blue:

I must say...those things do pull hard...look at this one pull at 80+...

I ran the stock exhaust and just swapped in a Magnaflow muffler on both my 05 1500 with the 5.3 and my 07 2500hd with the 6.0. The change from stock to Magnaflow was very impressive sound-wise in both. The 5.3 had a nice growl on acceleration, but was not really loud at highway speed, and never had any drone. With the 6.0, it was louder all around, and would rap pretty good on acceleration, and had a nice growl on the highway, still with no drone though. I was very happy with both setups. One thing I did notice was that with the 5.3, I seemed to lose a touch of low end power but it really picked up on the high end. I seemed to notice a slight increase across the board with the 6.0.

Get the Magnaflow!

There are a few of us now!

Yeah, thats what I am leaning to. Had one on my canyon and it made the I5 sound prety good. Would you know what part # the muffler would be for it on my truck? I have an exhaust guy that will put it on for me. Will be using stock size pipe.
