The 5.3 has died

Rebuilding the one you have would be your cheapest route. A new 5.3 or 6.0 is going to cost you at least $6K.

I'd say rebuild the 5.3 and do some small performance mods. Keep the dd just that.

What I posted is expensive I guess for $8k but it includes everything. All he would need to do for the most part and he would have a brand new running engine harness and computer.

All the 6.2 crates I've seen are around $6k, is that about what summit wants? I'd think a used low mile 5.3 or 6.0 would be cheaper... A 5.3 can be had for $1000 here.

Summit is asking more on the lines of $8k but that is pretty much turn key engine to include harness and computer.
