Texans are NOT used to cold weather like our Yankee brothers.

I've had friends from the great white North come down in August. They wilt like yesterday's daisies when the temp hits 105 out on the lake (just like we would at -40)

We love it.

I kept trying to get you to come visit me in AK...in January :jester:

pussies. :jester:

The weather is really fWONked up this year, we`ve had alot of dramatic tempurature swings, and mostly in a matter of hours, has made for some interesting driving situations!

Wanna talk pussies... come visit us in August. :jester:

My folks live in Rockport and called to complain about it being 27 deg this morn. They didn't get much sympathy from me as our highs this week were around 24... My nephew in Dallas didn't get much sympathy either...

+1...I fWONking hate the cold and am sick of it. Snowed all Tuesday night and yesterday. Snow melted just enough to turn to solid ice yesterday afternoon and that's how it remained today. The high yesterday: 11 and the high today wasn't much better. We set a record low today at 1 degree and the low tonight is anywhere from 0 to -3 depending on the source. We just aren't equipped for this shit. Schools have been closed since Tuesday, every water line is slowly freezing, power plants are shutting down, everything in the oil field and mines is all but frozen solid. Somehow our lowly heat pump is managing to keep the house decent with it so cold outside, although both units have pretty much been running non-stop since Monday night (electric bill will be fun). Luckily the house still has water, but out at work it's a different story. I live in Southern New Mexico for a reason: to avoid shit like this!

Edit: Forgot to throw in that the weather stations on the cranes at work recorded a wind chill of -19 this morning.

TX, where else should I be?
Just looked out side and guess what I saw falling from the sky! I saw sssleet. That is kinda like snow right?

Oh well, still gonna go down a nearby road to play around. This only happens once every few years so might as well make the most of this crappy weather.

It was sleeting in San Marcos, then drizzle that turned into black ice. Went on some of the back roads I know and taught myself how to drive on it. Not very complicated, just go slow and no sudden anything. Glad I learned now rather than during an emergency.
