I wanna be your Maine Man
I know I might get banned for having a different opinion but I've said my peace.

What makes you say they are over rated? I can understand overdone but the reason why people put them in everything is because they are a cheap, easy, light small way to get power. If the motor was over rated, why is everyone and their cousin doing swaps? No problem. It would not be the first time your reading comprehension was a little off.
The whole "Put an LS in it" Is overdone. But this is the same conversation I was having with people about SBC's. I see a car at a car show with a SBC or LS in it THATS NOT A GM product, I keep walking. Overdone and over rated. Dare to be different.

Because their fathers and uncles put SBC's in everything and they don't know any better. The engine in that car light, small and easily modified. If consider putting a Chevy V8 in a nissan an easy modification. For the price of the engine sway you could make that car faster than with a factory LS and not need to do more mods on top of the engine swap. Just sayin'.
I'll drop it because I am out numbered by the Gm faithful here.

It has nothing to do with GM faithful, if Ford had a equal to the LS engine (cheap, easily modable, light and small) I would be all over them. The 302 is pretty close. There is a reason the SBC/LS is a very popular engine and it has nothing to do with people "not knowing better".Because their fathers and uncles put SBC's in everything and they don't know any better. I don't think it's a "GM Faithful" thing here.. I think it's an "easy horsepower" thing..
I think it's also partially an "I love the sound of a V8" thing, too..![]()
